GENERAL CHEMISTRY I Unit 1: What is Matter?

Additional Information

Matter is any physical material in our universe that has mass and occupies space. This matter has certain properties that allow us to distinguish it from all other matter.  These properties can be classified into physical states and composition. The 3 most basic states of matter are gasses, liquids, and solids. You can also look at the different states of matter on the molecular level. The variations in properties allow scientists to separate and quantify different substances.  Within these measurements of matter, scientists use specific units in order to have consistent measurements across the world.
